Dunhuang Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring is located 5 kilometers south of Dunhuang City, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, covering an area of 76.82 square kilometers, and the core scenic area is defined as 12.79 square kilometers. It is known as “one of the most beautiful scenery outside the Great Wall”.
Mingsha Mountain starts from Mogao Grottoes in the east and ends at Danghekou in the west. It stretches 40 kilometers from east to west and is about 20 kilometers wide from north to south. The main peak is 1,715 meters above sea level. The mountain is made up of red, yellow, green, black, white and five-color fine sand. The Crescent Moon Spring is located in the Mingsha Mountain and is named because its shape resembles a crescent moon. “One of the five most beautiful deserts in China”.
